Are philosophers the unexpected new hires shaping AI’s future?

A couple of days ago, I was reading with great interest that Speaker 1: America because the big tech companies that have big AI budgets are spending some of Speaker 1: those budgets on hiring philosophers. Open AI Anthropic, Google Deep Mind actively recruiting philosophers to Speaker 1: help navigate questions of ethics, values, and decision making. The New York Times Reporter quoted Speaker 1: analysts are saying this reflects a growing recognition inside the AI industry that some of Speaker 1: fairly, responsibly and in line with human expectations as those systems become more powerful and Speaker 1: autonomous. Anthropic seems to be taking it most seriously.
