Liberty Promenade celebrates grassroots sports heroes this Mandela Day

Speaker 1: We often celebrate the athletes who lift trophies and break records, but behind many success Speaker 1: stories are dedicated coaches, mentors, and volunteers quietly making a difference in their communities. This Speaker 1: Mandela Day, Liberty Promenade More is shining a spotlight on those everyday sporting heroes so Speaker 1: its new campaign, called the Power of Sport. It aims to recognize the people and Speaker 1: organizations using sport to uplift young people, create safer spaces, and inspire positive change. Brenda Speaker 1: Bibby is general manager of Liberty Promenade and joins us this morning. Brenda, good to Speaker 1: have you. What inspired Liberty Promenade More to focus on these grassroots sport for this Speaker 1: year's Mandelada initiative. Speaker 2: Good morning, Sarah, Jay and thanks for having me. The reason why we've done this Speaker 2: was to dedicate to celebrate all the organizations and all those b the individuals are Speaker 2: making a lasting impact to sport. You know, the campaign aims to honor community organizations Speaker 2: that use sport as the platform to differently inspire positive change, empower individuals, and strengthen Speaker 2: local communities. As you know, sport has an incredible ability to bring people together to Speaker 2: build resilience and crete opportunities. So across Mitchell's Plain, many inspiring organizations are definitely providing Speaker 2: these safe spaces and meaningful opportunities through soccer, rugby, netball, athletes, dance chips, and a Speaker 2: variety of other programs. So this initiative we want to highlight and celebrate these organizations Speaker 2: and individuals making a difference every day.
