A long and surprising history

The Story of Bo-Kaap · 17 September 2019 · 23m

A long and surprising history. Episode 1 - The Bo-Kaap is a popular tourist destination in Cape Town with a rich history that is widely shared with visitors. It survived Apartheid when other neighbourhoods in the City centre saw their black residents moved to outlying suburbs, but how that happened illustrates how manipulative the Apartheid system was. The story of Bo-Kaap is an EWN production presented and produced by Haji Mohamed Dawjee and Rebecca Davis with sound engineering and editing by Gavin Deysel.
