Speaker 1: Right, let's go back to Karen Dolly, daily Maverick journalist to have a look at Speaker 1: NARCO traffickers in South Africa. Karen, good afternoon to you again. Speaker 1: Okay, So you were talking us through the Global Report on Cocaine, what it tells Speaker 1: us and how South Africa features prominently. Speaker 2: Absolutely, and we know what features prominently the report a side we can actually see Speaker 2: based on the drug interceptions and crackdowns, which are really great news, but it's also Speaker 2: indicative of a much broader problem because what is being intercepted is likely only a Speaker 2: small percent of what's actually moving around. And I'm not sure where I cut off Speaker 2: earlier, but I was saying that shipping containers are used to smuggle drugs. But aside Speaker 2: from getting the drugs onto the shore in South Africa, we've also had incidents where Speaker 2: drugs have been offloaded from a ship into water and then I don't want to Speaker 2: say games, but individuals then go out and retrieve these confinements of drugs on smaller Speaker 2: boats. Speaker 1: What kind of level of police complicity or corruption are we seeing? Speaker 2: You know? I wish I could answer that concisely, but I think increasingly we're hearing Speaker 2: about that from them at Lunger Commission, and what's coming out of the Commission is Speaker 2: sort of adding to other suspicions, allegations, accusations. And we know for a long time Speaker 2: there's been suspicions that police are siding with gangsters, for example. We know these suspicions
