Speaker 1: It's Saskia in for luncheon. Speaker 2: Today we launch the Monday Marathon minute. Now, this is going to be your weekly Speaker 2: update as we count down to the sunlam Cape Town Marathon this May. Speaker 1: Yes, you heard me right. Speaker 2: The race weekend happens on the twenty third and twenty fourth of May in twenty Speaker 2: twenty six, and of course the big marathon, the actual big event, takes place on Speaker 2: the Sunday. You do know that we have been the official radio partner with the Speaker 2: sunlam Cape Town Marathon since its beautiful inception and so very very pleased to have Speaker 2: Clark Gardner, the group CEO for Faces well the organizers of sunlam Cape Down Marathon Speaker 2: in the studio with me. Speaker 1: Good morning or afternoon afternoon. Speaker 3: Good afternoon, Saskan on your listeners. Speaker 2: Now, I want to start off with the date change. Last year the event was Speaker 2: in October. We had those adverse weather conditions were canceled. But this year the marathon Speaker 2: is happening in May for the first time. I wanted to just understand how this Speaker 2: is going to benefit us and what was the thinking behind that. Speaker 3: Well, I think what happened in October makes it quite clear and gave us a Speaker 3: lot of evidence. Yeah, we disappointed twenty four thousand participants then, and I don't think Speaker 3: the participants nor our team could go through that again. And although we changed the Speaker 3: date well before October, it's very clear that May statistically has the least wind in
