IDAC under scrutiny

Speaker 1: Seven and kate this early breakfast. Speaker 2: Eight minutes now to six o'clock yesterday. So a press briefing by the newly appointed Speaker 2: ombard for the IDAK, the Independent Directorate against Corruption, retired Judge Dagalania Rao Linga, saying Speaker 2: that he's fully qualified to serve as the oversight judge. He was announced by Justice Speaker 2: Minister Mamologo Kubai on Friday. And of course the controversy is a political party raising Speaker 2: an objection to that announcement, an appointment because of links to the African National Congress. Speaker 2: They claim. Speaker 1: Good morning, Good morning Africa, and good morning to the listeners. Only time will tell. Speaker 1: We have high expectations of everybody appointed. They undertake and make pledges to be independent, Speaker 1: to ensure that all prosecutions and warrants issued, prosecutes laid and warrants issued by IDAC, Speaker 1: that it can stand the masterity, the master of traditional scrutiny, scrutiny. So we're expecting Speaker 1: much. Unfortunately, sometimes we are surprised that we get what we pay for. Other times Speaker 1: we are left disappointed unfortunately Africa. Speaker 2: The more immediate challenge I think for IDAC is its head advocate, Andrea Johnson. Some Speaker 2: experts believing that the President will have no choice but to suspend her following allegations Speaker 2: of improper conduct. A lot of that, of course playing itself out in the Mitlana Speaker 2: Commission. Let's talk about her, her role and why we need somebody who is above Speaker 2: scrutiny in that role and function.
